MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Police Department has announced the recipients of the Officer and Supervisor of the Year awards for 2023. Officer Bryce Lowry and Lieutenant Dylan Reese have been recognized for their exceptional service to the community.

Officer Bryce Lowry, a 2019 graduate of Pleasant High School and former dispatcher for the Marion County Combined Dispatch Center, was nominated by his first shift supervisors and selected as Officer of the Year through a department-wide vote. Lowry joined the Marion PD on April 11, 2022, shortly after graduating from the Marion Technical College Peace Officer Basic Training Academy.
Chief Jay McDonald praised Lowry’s dedication to the community, stating, “We could not be more fortunate to have Officer Lowry working at Marion PD and serving the citizens of Marion. His commitment to protecting and serving the community has surely made an #MPACT.” Lieutenant Jared Robinson, one of Lowry’s immediate supervisors, added, “Officer Lowry has a natural ability for this job, a knack for criminal interdiction. He had a good team on 1st shift this year that pushed everyone to do better.”

Lieutenant Dylan Reese, a graduate of North Union High School and Marion Technical College, was voted Supervisor of the Year by all department members. Reese began his service at Marion PD on July 20, 2015, and was promoted to Lieutenant on March 28, 2022. Prior to joining the Marion PD, he worked at the Multi-County Correctional Center for about two years. In addition to his duties as Lieutenant, Reese supervises the field training program and serves as a Team Leader for the Marion Special Response Team.
“Lt. Reese is an excellent and well-respected supervisor. He has an outstanding future ahead of him as a leader at the Marion Police Department,” Chief McDonald stated.
