MOUNT GILEAD, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A 46-year-old man originally from Morrow County, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for multiple sex crimes involving minors, according to announcements made by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton.
Lawrence Fidler, a resident of LaRue, was convicted in August on serious felony charges, including rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition, and sexual battery. Attorney General Yost emphasized the gravity of the offenses, stating, “Only prison bars can contain the vile impulses of a child rapist. I pray that this sentence provides the victims a chance to heal.”
In addition to his prison sentence, Fidler will be required to complete five years of post-release control upon his release. He has also been designated as a Tier III sex offender, which mandates that he register his home address, work address, and vehicle information with the county sheriff. This registration must be verified every 90 days for life.
The investigation was carried out by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and the case was prosecuted by attorneys from Yost’s Special Prosecutions Section in Morrow County Common Pleas Court.
