MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW) – Bond has been set at $250,000 for a Marion County man charged in a shooting incident.

According to online records from Marion Municipal Court, when he appeared in court on Dec. 6, D’Larius J. Evans, age 24, Marion, was arraigned on four counts of felonious assault, each a second-degree felony; one count of discharging a firearm on or near a prohibited premises, a third-degree felony; one count of having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; and two counts of improperly handling firearms inside a vehicle, both fourth-degree felonies.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the vicinity of the intersection of Davids Street and West Columbia Street on the west side of Marion, according to a press release issued by the Marion Police Department.

Police said that Evans fired two rounds from his vehicle at another vehicle in the area that was occupied by two adults and two minor children. One round was recovered from the rear of the victim’s vehicle. Two shell casings were discovered in the area.

Evans then fled the scene and was later apprehended by police officers in the 300 block of Pearl Street. Officers found him and the firearm he allegedly used in the shooting in his vehicle at that location and took him into custody. The shell casings found at the scene of the shooting matched the firearm found in his Evans’ vehicle, police said.

Police later discovered that Evans was wanted on a nationwide warrant that was issued by authorities in Fulton County, Georgia. He was indicted in Georgia on the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Evans is being held at the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion. He was scheduled to appear in Marion Municipal Court on Dec. 11. Court records show that attorney Jon S. Doyle was appointed to represent Evans.
