DELAWARE, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Former Bucyrus Attorney, Adam Stone, has been indicted on four felony charges related to his representation of a Bucyrus couple, Dan and Mindy Straker.
In May, the Strakers received a Colvin judgment against Stone.
In a Sudge David Gromley found Stone guilty of negligence and fraud, citing instances where Stone provided false information to the Straker family regarding the investigation into their son’s death. Stone fabricated documents and made false claims about the investigation, causing distress to the family.
Now, Stone has been indicted by a Delaware County Grand Jury on the following counts:
- Telecommunications fraud, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 36 months in prison
- Impersonation of police or private police, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 36 months in prison
- Grand theft, a fourth-degree felony punishable by up to 18 months in prison
- Identity fraud, a fifth-degree felony punishable by up to 12 months in prison
According to the indictment, the amount of money stolen ranges from more than $750 to less than $150,000.
According to court records, Stone received a summons to appear to answer the charges. Stone is prosecuted by Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel.
While the Strakers have no comment about the charges at this time, their attorney, Rob Miller, stated:
“We wish to thank law enforcement for its continued investigation into Mr. Stone and his conduct. We look forward to him being brought to justice.”
