MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Nearly 10 years after the tragic loss of their son Brandon, the criminal case against former Bucyrus attorney Adam Stone reached its conclusion in Marion on Tuesday.
Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge Todd Anderson sentenced Stone to an additional nine months in prison. The sentence will run concurrently with his Delaware County sentence.
Stone had filed a motion for judicial release on April 20. That motion was related to a case where he previously pleaded guilty to telecommunications fraud and impersonating a peace officer, which carried a 54-month prison sentence. He was sent to prison in September, and his new expected release date is Jan. 24, 2030.
In denying the judicial release, the court noted that Stone had served only eight months of his 54-month sentence. The court emphasized the serious nature of his crimes, which involved exploiting the Straker family’s grief and impersonating a state attorney, causing them significant psychological and financial hardship.
Both the state of Ohio and the Straker family opposed his release.
