MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Several closely watched issues and party races were decided Tuesday as Marion County voters headed to the polls in the primary election.
One of the most watched issues on the ballot was the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ request for an additional 2.4-mill levy. Voters rejected the measure in a close vote.
The Marion County ADAMH renewal levy also failed, with 48.83% of voters supporting the renewal and 51.17% voting against it.
Additional levy requests were also unsuccessful for the Cardington-Lincoln School District and the Pleasant Township Fire Department, which sought approval for an additional 4-mill levy.
In party races, several candidates secured seats on local central and county committees.
Democrats elected to the central committee include Brenda Westcott, Tara Dyer, Anthony Azaria, Timothy Combs, Tyron Canterbury, and Douglas Ebert. Democrats elected to the county committee include Rob Koons, Cindy Price, and Brandi Downs.
Republicans elected to the central committee include Shawn Barr, Matt Pollock, Brian Lovell, Mary Stoneburner, Johnathon Zucker, Margie Saull, Mauri Morse, Karen McCleary, Patricia Yearling, Tabitha Perry, Kevin Davidson, Gary Risch, and Ray Grogan.
Republicans elected to the county committee include Ralph Smith, David Haines, Thaddaeus Smith, Kerr Murray, Daniel Burkhart, Eric Mosley, Patricia Yearling, Jennifer Miller, Brandy Gandert, Ken Stiverson, Brian Roberts, Lynn Zucker, Margie Saull, and Lisa Bush.
In county races, Republican Tim Mooney secured the party win for Marion County Commissioner. Family Court Judge Rhonda Burggraf retained her seat unopposed.
Voters in Waldo approved a gas aggregation measure. In another local issue, Scrappy Drive Thru received approval to offer Sunday liquor sales.
