MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Strong thunderstorms moving northeast at 50 mph are expected to impact several counties in northern Ohio, including Marion, Crawford, and Wyandot, through 9:45 p.m. EDT.
The National Weather Service issued the warning at 8:37 p.m. EDT, citing Doppler radar tracking thunderstorms along a line from near Green Springs to near Sycamore to Forest.
The storms are expected to bring wind gusts up to 50 mph, which could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Affected locations include Marion, Bucyrus, Upper Sandusky, Willard, Plymouth, New Washington, Bloomville, Sycamore, La Rue, Morral, Chatfield, Marseilles, Attica, Benton, Nevada, North Fairfield, New Bloomington, Green Camp, Wharton, and Tiro.
The weather service advises residents to seek shelter inside a building if outdoors. Torrential rainfall is also expected, potentially leading to localized flooding. Drivers are warned not to drive through flooded roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for northwestern Ohio until 10:00 p.m. EDT.
The storms are not expected to produce hail.
