MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Police Department has made significant progress in the investigation into the shooting incident that occurred on Oak Street on May 13, 2026.

On May 14, police arrested two additional 15-year-old juveniles, bringing the total number of arrests related to the case to two. Both juveniles were taken to the Family Resource Center for processing.

Investigators have confirmed that over 20 shots were fired during the altercation among the group of juveniles. Fortunately, despite the intensity of the gunfire, no serious injuries have been reported, with one individual sustaining a gunshot wound and later transported to a Columbus hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting unfolded around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Oak Street and Chestnut Street, where officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired. Initial reports indicated that both a vehicle and pedestrians were involved in the incident; however, all individuals had left the scene by the time authorities arrived.

At least three houses were struck by gunfire, but no further injuries were reported among residents.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers and detectives have conducted interviews with several individuals, and the police are actively pursuing leads related to an ongoing dispute believed to have triggered the violence.

Major Chris Adkins, the issuing officer for this case, stated that the investigation remains active and that more information will be released as it becomes available. The community is encouraged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
