MT. GILEAD, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)— Morrow County voters took advantage of warm, sunny weather on Tuesday to cast their ballots, driving voter turnout to nearly 60 percent across local precincts.
Despite the high turnout, school and educational tax measures faced significant resistance, mirroring a broader regional trend where local ballot initiatives struggled to earn support.
Educational funding measures across the county suffered decisive defeats:
Lexington Local School Operating Renewal Levy: Defeated after failing to secure a majority, with 270 votes cast against the measure and 134 in support.
Lexington Local Income Tax for Current Expenses: Rejected by voters, receiving 329 opposition votes against 75 votes in favor.
Delaware Area Career Center Levy: Narrowly failed in the county, drawing 354 votes against and 302 votes in support.
Social services and joint county measures met a similar fate. The Delaware/Morrow County Mental Health Renewal and Increase for Operating Expenses was voted down by a wider margin, failing with 8,289 votes against and 5,756 votes in support.
